Key Information

Role impact

This position plays a critical role in developing our pipeline of pharmaceutical and academic clients and promoting our novel proteomics offerings within the scientific community, so we are the go-to company for LC-MS biomarker assays.

Location

We’re looking for someone who’s located within CA (San Fran/San Diego Preferred) or within OR, WA, AZ, NV, UT, CO with easy airport access.

Hybrid/
remote

Home-office based position with 2x/mo travel. We meet approximately once a quarter in the UK/Europe with the whole team for our company wide Away Days.

Hours

Full-time or part time (minimum 80%). We have flexible working hours.

Travel

Approximately 50% (estimated 1 week for Away Days and 1 week for conferences per quarter along with regional travel of 1-2 nights 2x/mo)

Your Mission

You will develop our pipeline of pharmaceutical clients and promote our technology within the scientific community. You will sell our LC-MS service-based assays for neurodegenerative & fibrosis related diseases and other upcoming pre-validated assay services. You will also work closely with drug development companies to custom develop protein biomarker discovery experiments and targeted assays utilizing Inoviv’s rapid assay development modality, InoKey. You will be a crucial team member with the power to make a real, tangible impact on the company and influence how we grow the business. 

The key responsibilities of a Business Development Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive Sales Growth: Proactively achieve sales targets primarily through the primary focus of new customer acquisition, in CA and surrounding states.
  • Sales Funnel Management: Strategically build and manage a robust sales funnel to generate a high-quality pipeline, ensuring a steady flow of prospects that progress efficiently through the sales stages to a successful close.
  • Territory Planning and Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive territory plan designed to facilitate new customer acquisition, specifically targeting key pharmaceutical accounts in CA. 
  • Diagnose pharmaceutical companies’ scientific and business needs, present appropriate solutions and create customized proposals.
  • Lead discussions with technical support related to mass spectrometry-based proteomics, neurodegenerative diseases, fibrosis and the benefits of our platform to deliver diagnostic, prognostic or treatment efficacy biomarkers for clinical trials
  • Evangelize the technology and company with the broader scientific community, including at conferences, with key opinion leaders and scientific groups
  • Pursue business opportunities with pharmaceutical companies, managing all aspects of the sales cycle from lead generation to close
  • Design biomarker studies according to client needs with internal technical support 
  • Research target pharmaceutical companies in order to understand pain points

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Business Development Manager:

Must have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in biochemistry/ molecular biology/ or similar
  • 1+ Years in Life Science Sales with a demonstrated track record of success
  • Knowledge of the CA/West-US biotechnology/pharma landscape
  • Experience in proteomics, mass spectrometry, or related ‘omics technologies through either working knowledge or in a commercial capacity
  • Ability to operate independently from a UK based headquarters
  • Strong presentation, communication and negotiating skills
  • A demonstrated ability to create new business opportunities within the designated region and space
  • Commitment to the company’s mission
  •  

Nice to have

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the role of biomarkers in clinical trials
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation, mass spectrometry preferred
  • Experience with complex stakeholder management
  • Experience with services contracting processes (NDA/CDA, MSA, SOW)
  • A current network within the stated region
